I don’t know about you, but lately I’ve been struggling to find my soul’s purpose. Don’t get me wrong, I do love owning a boutique and being a mom and continuing on the spiritual journey I began 4 years ago...but there feels like so much more wants to flow through me.

Enter “conscious consumerism”.....which by definition “a conscious consumer is an agent of change who considers the social, environmental, ecological and political impact of their buycott and boycott actions.” Shew, but let me tell you what I uncovered while doing some research on the subject....and it ain’t pretty. After reading several articles about how conscious consumerism is a joke and it’s not enough to make a change I started to get discouraged... are my actions of relaunching a Collection of  Vintage and used goods not good for the environment? Are my actions meaningless in the grand scale of everything? Should I just not even try?

My answer would be “FUCK THAT” I understand where these articles are coming from because it’s not just the fashion industry perpetuating the cycle of telling you that you “need” something you didn’t even know existed....the government and major corporations are literally pumping the food we eat and beauty products we use full of chemicals leading to a full array of health issues. BUTTT you don’t change the world by telling people they aren’t doing enough.... you say “hey, I see you are starting to wake up to the global issues we are facing, good for you for making a conscious decision about what you are spending your money on, here are some more ways to help....”

.......I say all of this to get my own self WOKE THE FUCK UP to what’s going on in the world. So yes, I’m bringing you recycled clothes....there’s also a sustainably made eco friendly clothing line coming out this fall...but that in itself really isn’t enough. From this point on I’m going to do a lot more research on where Lotus y la Luna clothes are being made and who is making them, no more “fast fashion”.....introducing more all natural health and beauty products and continuing to donate to the Surfrider Foundation.

But ultimately it comes down to consumers, do you know where your money is going? Are you buying things for the wrong reasons? Consumerism itself needs a wake up call.....people are literally throwing out amazing treasures on a daily basis ending up in landfills all over the world....take for instance this chair, it was in a garbage pile on the side of the road.....like WHAT?!

I’m going to continue to keep you guys updated on the efforts here at Lotus y la Luna to make the world better than we found it....ONE SMALL FUCKING STEP AT A TIME 🌎
