Not For Everyone- Ethical Fashion
“You cannot live a brave life without disappointing some people....” -Oprah
If you have been following Lotus y la Luna for a while you have probably noticed some serious rebranding going on lately. Recently I started doing a lot of research on ethical and sustainable fashion and the impact the Fashion Industry has on the environment and I was SHOOK. I realized I was a cog in the machine...how could I preach about honoring Mother Earth and run a fast fashion clothing boutique?
You have two choices when realizing you are part of the problem...1. Make excuses or 2. Make a CHANGE. Hence the rebranding of Lotus y la Luna. Our new mission statement sums it up
Lotus y la Luna is dedicated to reducing the carbon footprint of the Fashion Industry by bringing affordable, ethical and eco friendly styles to the sustainably conscious free spirited woman.
What does that mean exactly? Well in the past I’ve just purchased clothing for the store because I thought it was “cute”....I didn’t question where it was made, who made it or the environmental impacts. Not...any....more. I’ve been scouring the WORLD for new brands and products to bring you that you can feel good about purchasing and know you are doing your part to help the environment...eco friendly, ethical and sustainable pieces as well as our Relived Collection that I personally hand pick for you.
With that being said..has engagement gone up...absolutely not...it’s gone way down...but you know what....unfortunately this isn’t for everyone....and that’s ok. I’d rather stand for something than try to make everyone happy. Will people continue to shop mass chain stores like Forever 21 and H&M? Absolutely...butttt if I can at least open someone’s eyes and make them question what they are buying I’m happy with that.
For now, we have a smaller amount of pieces because I am really trying hard to research where this stuff is coming from...and it’s pretty exciting finding new brands like Lamixx that makes the top in this post...it’s 100% organic cotton ethically and sustainably made in Los Angeles California by a small woman owned company (we’ll be stocking a lot more of her organic cotton tees!) and the entire order this maxi skirt came in was responsibly made in the USA by people in good working conditions getting paid what they deserve mmmmk.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and following along on this journey...it’s means the world 🌎 that we are all trying to save 💚
