Second Hand September
There’s a movement happening in the United Kingdom this month that’s spreading globally called “Second Hand September”. It’s a pledge to buy no “new” clothing the entire month of September to spread awareness about the impact the Fashion Industry is having on the environment GLOBALLY.
I mentioned in last week’s blog post that in 2015 the Fashion Industry was responsible for 92 MILLION TONS of waste sent to landfills and that it was responsible for 20% of global wastewater and 10% of global carbon emissions....that’s MORE than all international flights carbon emissions 😳.
If you’re asking what that has to do with you I’m going to leave you with this and encourage you to buy just ONE second hand item over a new one this month (I’ve already done the hard work for you with the carefully curated Relived Collection!)
“If everyone in the United States chose ONE second hand clothing item over a new one THIS YEAR it would save 6 BILLION POUNDS of carbon emissions.....”
