Travel Light
“Travel light, live light, spread light, be the light”
- Yogi Bhajan
I’ve heard this quote numerous times now and every time it has more of an impact. Recently I’ve been “lightening up” so to speak in my life and this store. If you know me you know I have a “thing” for clothes....it’s more than just a material addiction....I can look at a piece of clothing and tell you where and when I wore it, who I was was with and what happened while wearing it. But ask me to remember any of my passwords and forget about it.
Because of this special connection to clothing I tend to hold on to pieces while accumulating even more at the same time. They were EVERYWHERE.....the boat we live on, the townhouse we Air BNB, stored in our shop, stored at my parents house and there was always at least an extra outfit in my car. But lately I’ve been “cleaning up” my life and it started with my massive amount of clothing. Subconsciously I knew that having all those clothes spread out in different locations and only being able to fit so many on the boat was weighing me down....so I started donating them... place by place, room by room. And although I’m not done yet I already feel lighter.
Why am I telling you this while also being the owner of a clothing boutique? Well....it goes along with our new motto. You should only own pieces that you truly love and that you can wear time and time again, it’s part of “Slow Fashion.” Your clothing should bring you joy when you put it on....from knowing where it was made, who made it and what it’s made from....to feeling like a straight up queen when you walk out of your house.
Once you start to view clothing this way it leads to a deeper understanding of everything else you own....not only that....it feels incredibly satisfying to know you are making a difference in the world one piece of clothing at a time.... now I encourage you to.... “travel light, live light, spread light, be the light” ✨

Brooke 💚
