Womanhood
“One is not born, but rather becomes, a woman.”
- Simone de Beauvoir
I found myself saying something hurtful about a friend of mine out of frustration and abandonment and jealousy issues this morning...and then I immediately regretted it and asked myself why I would say such a thing. The last few thousand years under the Patriarchy women have been pitted against each other and taught that we cannot have it all if the woman beside us already does.
But where does that thought process get us? Feeling deep rooted thoughts from our subconscious that we don’t even realize are bubbling up to the surface and doing no one any good.
I’m not proud of how I have acted towards other women in certain times of my own insecurities...and this morning when I got triggered I immediately apologized to the universe and womankind in general....but self awareness is a big step in the journey to becoming a woman...and the more each one of us heals and evolves it opens the door for others to do the same.
...which leads me to these two beautiful souls who one having just flown in from New York and the other driving for 3 hours helped me carry these giant peacock chairs down a nature trail to shoot for this store. If you find women who inspire you and nurture you and hold you accountable for your own bullshit cling to them like the last blossom holding tightly to the fading summer sun...because they are magical...and together, as women, they are changing the world.
